Felisa Ware, President

PARENTS!! We NEED volunteers to assist with the traffic in the morning and after school. As you know, Plymouth has grown in numbers. Because of the growth in the student population, we have grown in the amount of automobiles and families attempting to drop off or pick up students. We need your help to ensure our students remain safe. If you can assist with this effort, please contact Ms. Felisa Ware as soon as possible.

PEC PTSA PROGRAMS AND ACTIVITIES.
The current membership fee is $5.00 per year. This fee is for membership to the local and state PTSA. The PTSA generally meets the fourth Thursday of every month in the PEC School Media Center. Parent volunteers are responsible for heading the various committees that coordinate the programs and activities of the PEC PTSA. These activities are outlined below and are subject to change.

PROGRAMS FOR TEACHERS

WISH LISTS: Teachers identify items for use in their classrooms that may not be provided through school funds, but would be helpful to the teacher in carrying out their classroom activities. The PTSA officers review the requests.

TEACHER APPRECIATION WEEK: Teachers are given a luncheon as well as small surprises and treats from the PTSA to show appreciation for the work that they do. The children participate throughout the week by bringing in a variety of small tokens daily to show their appreciation.

TEACHER WELCOME BACK: A luncheon is given for the PEC teachers and staff on the first day of school to welcome them back for the new school year.

TEACHER RETIREMENTS: Any retiring teachers are given a reception at the end of the school year in honor of their retirement.

PROGRAMS FOR STUDENTS AND FAMILIES

CROSSING GUARDS: The crossing guard program uses volunteer parents to help children cross the street safely before and after school.

FAMILY FUN NIGHT: An annual family fun fair is held in late winter/early spring. PEC students and their families participate in an evening of activities, crafts, entertainment and food, centered on a theme. Fun Night is entirely organized by PEC parent volunteers.

REFLECTIONS PROGRAM: Individual PEC students can choose to participate in a yearly local, state and national PTSA arts competition. Each year a new theme is given where students create an entry in one of several arts mediums that explores the theme (literature, musical composition, photography, and visual arts). Entries are judged and awarded recognition by category and grade.

SKATING PARTIES:
A local roller skating rink is rented for the use of PEC Families. A per person fee is charged to attend. Skating parties are often held on half days of school, several times throughout the year.

STUDENT DANCES: Each February, two parent/child dances are held, one for mothers and sons and one for fathers and daughters. Refreshments are served.

STUDENT PROGRAMS: Various outside educational and entertaining programs are brought into the school for assemblies and grade-level presentations.

FUNDRAISING ACTIVITIES:

SELLING PRODUCTS: During the school year, the PTSA carries out different fundraising events to raise money for the programs that it sponsors. The products sold in recent years have included pizza kits, cookie dough and candy sales.

DUAL PURPOSE ACTIVITIES: Some of the programs sponsored by the PTSA serve a dual purpose by providing a program or activity for the students while raising funds for the PTSA. These include jean days and Skating Parties.

PRODUCT REDEMPTION: The PEC PTSA participates in the Campbell's Labels for Education and the General Mills Box Tops for Education programs. PEC Families collect proofs of purchase for these products, which are redeemed for educational items or for cash. The PTSA also plans to participate in the Gordon Food Service Fun Funds Program.

The funds raised by the PTSA are spent on special projects for the school, student assembly programs, activities for PEC students and their families, special classroom supplies, teacher appreciation activities, school beautification, hospitality, school handbook, and refreshments for various meetings.
