A NEW WAY FOR PARENTS TO STAY INFORMED
Zangle’s
ParentConnection is a web application that provides parents with direct
access to student data via the Internet. Using a confidential PIN (personal
identification number) and password, parents can connect to the school’s
student database using a web browser and view their child’s data,
such as progress reports, attendance records, report cards, transcripts,
and more. ParentConnection allows the parent to view, in one session,
data on all their enrolled dependents.
To Obtain a PIN and password
Click on the following link to open the application
form and print it. Fill it out completely and return it to the Main Office
at Plymouth Educational Center.

To Log onto ParentConnection
Follow the instructions below. From a computer
with Internet access, open the web browser, (i.e.:Internet Explorer),
and type the following in the Address box:

A NOTE REGARDING “POP-UP”
ADS AND AOL:
*POP-UP ADS must NOT BE BLOCKED from
the ParentConnection Website.
*AOL Users Must Open Internet Explorer in a Separate Window. ParentConnection
WILL NOT open while using the AOL browser. |

2. Enter
PIN and Password, click Logon:
(Located below)
PIN: This number is a unique number assigned
to each contact
randomly by the computer. Your personal identification number or
PIN cannot be changed.
Password: Passwords were randomly generated
and are CASE
SENSITIVE. It is suggested you change your password the first
time you connect (see Account Maintenance instructions below).

3. Select
a Student:
If you have more than one student enrolled in the school, you will have
the opportunity to view those students who have been designated as dependents
of the parent who is logged on. Otherwise, the screen will automatically
bring up your student’s information.

Student Data
Click
the links on the left side of the screen to view different types of data
for the selected student, such as, Demographics, Attendance, etc. The
currently selected link will be highlighted in white.
Refreshing data pages
Data viewed in ParentConnection is “live”, therefore it may
be updated in real time by the school while you are viewing data. However,
new data posted during a session will not be visible to the user until
the data page is refreshed.
There are three ways to refresh a data page:
1. Click on a different link and then return to the original link.
2. Click the Refresh or Reload button in your browser.
3. Press the F5 function key on the keyboard.

PLEASE NOTE: You Must Enable “Pop Ups”
For ParentConnection To Open.
Q: Why do I get the “Thank you
for being involved…” screen every time I logon?
A: The current configuration of your
Internet access does not allow ParentConnection to function properly.
Options:
- AOL and Safari
Users: minimize the AOL or Safari window and open a second window
for Internet Explorer.
- Windows XP users: Service
Pack 2 includes a Pop-Up blocker for Internet Explorer that is turned
ON by default. You may enable Pop-Ups from the ParentConnection site
by adding the URL to the “Address of Web site to allow”
box from the “Tools…Pop-Up Blocker…Pop-Up Blocker
Settings” menu option.
- All Users:
check your security settings and look for multiple Pop-Up Blockers.
Pop-Up windows must be allowed. (Google, MSN, Norton, etc.)
Q: Why does it say “No Information
to Display” after I click Logon and select my child?
A: You may need to delete your temporary
Internet files (Tools…Internet Options…General…Delete
Files).
Q: Why don’t I see anything on
the “Assignments” tab?
A: The “Assignments” tab
will reflect Zangle’s GradeBook information if the teachers have
opted to share that information. Only 3rd – 8th Grade teachers are
currently using the grading application that provides this option.
Q: Is there some way to change my PIN?
A: No. The PIN (Personal Identification
Number) is generated by the student database computer system. There is
no way to change that number.
Q: Who do I contact about my password?
A: Call the ParentConnection Help Desk
at 313-831-3280 x 107.
Q: Why do my spouse and I have individual
accounts? Couldn’t we just use the same one?
A: Because a child’s parents may
live at different addresses, parental access was established for each
parent individually. The information available will not differ between
parents of the same child.
Q: Can my child’s stepparent access
my child’s information?
A: ParentConnection accounts were created only for contacts identified
as Mother, Father or Guardian.
Q: Who will have access to my email
address?
A: Parent email addresses provided through
ParentConnection will be used only for school communication. Plymouth
Educational Center will NOT sell or give
away your email address.
