Idowu Jegede,
Chief Financial Officer
Mr. Jegede hails from the Bronx, New York where he
attended The Bronx High School of Science, one of New York City’s
three specialized high schools for math and science and one of the nation’s
top public high schools.
While at Bronx Science, Mr. Jegede not only excelled in academics, but
also lettered in varsity basketball and was a journalist for the school
newspaper. When he graduated he received a Regents-endorsed diploma,
the highest endorsement granted by the State of New York.
Upon graduation from Bronx Science, Mr. Jegede attended
The University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Michigan where he earned a
Bachelor of Science Degree in Industrial and Operations Engineering.
He has worked in numerous capacities within the private
and public sector including manufacturing, public utilities, and temporary
staffing. His former roles have included facilities design, contract
procurement, financial reporting, accounting, and financial modeling.
In 1993, Mr. Jegede began his professional career
with Consumers Energy Company, then Michigan’s largest gas and
electric utility company. As an Associate Engineer, Mr. Jegede was charged
with managing the purchasing function of all regional utility construction-related
services and materials. In this capacity, he also led the Accounts Payable
department for the Southern Region. Mr. Jegede was recognized for his
efforts in developing a corporate-wide database which consolidated data
on all construction projects, allowing senior level executives the ability
to access critical information for emergency and planning purposes.
Mr. Jegede later went on to earn his Master of Business
Administration degree with an emphasis in Finance from The University
of Michigan, as well as his Engineer in Training (E.I.T) certification.
He subsequently moved to Kelly Services, Inc. where as Senior Process
Engineer, he served as an internal consultant to Kelly Services branches
nationwide, providing sales support including sales trending and forecasting,
management reporting, and budgeting. Mr. Jegede also provided Kelly’s
external clients with strategic planning, financial modeling and process
redesign consulting. Within a short period he was recognized by senior
management for his successful business case for a major $3 million dollar
information technology investment.
Consumers Energy soon asked Mr. Jegede to return as
a Senior Financial Analyst. He developed complex financial models to
evaluate corporate strategic investment in information technology, real
estate and fleet initiatives. Mr. Jegede maintained oversight of a $25
million budget. He developed the annual operating expense budget and
provided monthly variance analysis and other financial reporting packages
to senior management.
As Chief Financial Officer, Mr. Jegede currently works
closely with the PEC Administrative team to ensure that all PEC students
have the resources necessary to succeed academically, socially, and
emotionally. Mr. Jegede plays the lead role in advising the Chief Administrative
Officer on the school’s management of its financial resources.
Mr. Jegede and his wife have been married for nearly
10 years and have a daughter and son. He is very active in his church,
Christian Tabernacle, where he serves as a leader in the Security Ministry
and a member of the Christian Outreach Ministry.
His memberships include Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity,
Inc., American Association of Blacks in Energy (AABE), and The National
Black MBA Association.
